Jones Jr. presented the guest lecture.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<hr \n\tclass=\"wsu-c-separator\" \n\t\t\t\/>\n\n\n<h2 \n\t class=\"wsu-c-heading\"\t\t\t>\n\t\t\tCommas in dates\t<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Dates are punctuated month, day, year, followed by a comma.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-m-list--separated\"><li>\u201cMay 12, 2009, was the date set for commencement.\u201d<\/li><li>If using only the month and year, there is no comma: \u201cCommencement was held in May 2010.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<hr \n\tclass=\"wsu-c-separator\" \n\t\t\t\/>\n\n\n<h2 \n\t class=\"wsu-c-heading\"\t\t\t>\n\t\t\tCommas in cities, states, or countries\t<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>When referring to a city and state within a sentence, precede and follow the state with commas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>The same rule applies for city and country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-m-list--separated\"><li>The plane landed in Pullman, Washington, this morning.<\/li><li>The students were studying abroad in London, England, this fall.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<hr \n\tclass=\"wsu-c-separator\" \n\t\t\t\/>\n\n\n<h2 \n\t class=\"wsu-c-heading\"\t\t\t>\n\t\t\tQuotations and punctuation\t<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Quotation marks are placed outside commas and periods and inside semicolons and colons.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Question marks and exclamation points are placed inside quotation marks if they are part of the quote and outside if they are not.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Items in quotation marks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-m-list--separated\"><li>article titles<\/li><li>direct quotes<\/li><li>parts of books<\/li><li>song titles<\/li><li>short poems<\/li><li>television and radio programs<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Items in italics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-m-list--separated\"><li>book titles<\/li><li>periodical titles (magazines, etc.)<\/li><li>newspaper titles<\/li><li>pamphlets<\/li><li>proceedings<\/li><li>movie titles<\/li><li>works of art<\/li><li>operas and other long musical compositions<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<hr \n\tclass=\"wsu-c-separator\" \n\t\t\t\/>\n\n\n<h2 \n\t class=\"wsu-c-heading\"\t\t\t>\n\t\t\tAcronyms\t<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Acronyms should be all caps, with no periods and no spaces.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-m-list--separated\"><li>GPA<\/li><li>NASA<\/li><li>NSF<\/li><li>ID cards<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<hr \n\tclass=\"wsu-c-separator\" \n\t\t\t\/>\n\n\n<h2 \n\t class=\"wsu-c-heading\"\t\t\t>\n\t\t\tDegree and major format\t<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Formatting degrees and majors in text should be: (\u2019year degree major).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-m-list--separated\"><li>\u201cJane Doe (\u201905 BA Crim. Jus.) donated to the College of Arts and Sciences.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The degree (BA or BS) may be left off in some circumstances, but always list graduate degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Only list graduation year and degree for WSU alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The major is capitalized within the parentheses (different from running text).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Degree is not necessarily always known, so year and major can be left within parentheses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If there are multiple degrees, separate with commas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wsu-m-list--separated\"><li>Jane Doe (\u201905 BA Crim.
